Perfect Day CocoCay - South Beach! Free Fun at Royal Caribbean’s Private Island in the Bahamas

If you sail on Royal Caribbean, especially from ports in Florida or on the east coast - chances are you are familiar with Perfect Day CocoCay in the Bahamas! This is just about everyone’s favorite stop on the Caribbean itinerary. Whether you’re a young adult partying it up at the Oasis Lagoon swim-up bar, a teenager enjoying an exciting Day at Thrill Waterpark, a retiree enjoying some R&R in a quiet spot at hideaway beach, or a family with young kids having a blast at Splashaway Bay, there is something for everyone!

Our usual day at Perfect Day CocoCay consists of a Full-Day Beach Bed rental at Chill Island - and don’t get me wrong - we LOVE this option! But, on this last cruise on Utopia of the Seas, we decided to try something a little different. We decided to enjoy a free-of-charge beach day at Cococay’s South Beach area, and I must say, it was really enjoyable! So much that we would like to do this again on our next CocoCay visit!

You have the option of either walking to get there or you can take the Island Tram (which is a great option, but we’ve never had any luck with it, plus we don’t mind walking - but that’s a story for another day!). A nice walk past some of the islands attractions, and through a section of the nature trail will land you there in South Beach.

There is first-come first-serve seating along the beach, so the earlier you get there, the better. There is plenty, though. We found a nice section of beach chairs in between the South Beach Cabanas and Beach Beds that you can check out in our YouTube video that I will link below!

With a view of the overwater cabanas in the distance and the beautiful cerulean water, South Beach provides the perfect backdrop for photos, as well as a more laid-back, tropical beach day experience.

South Beeach has all the amenities you need to have a comfortable, enjoyable day at the beach. There are restroom facilities, showers to wash the sand off, a bar, a Snack Shack, and even complimentary bean bags to grab and pull up next to the water to sit in (which was nice!)

South Beach is also right next to The Cove beach, which is tucked away around the corner from South Beach - providing a more secluded, quiet beach experience (also shown in our YouTube video - be sure to check it out!)
